Our ophthalmology training program is competitive and unrivalled. We are accredited by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) to run the five year Ophthalmology Training program and take a collegial approach to training our multidisciplinary team. We are also accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM), and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).

The Eye and Ear promotes research with our partners and collaborators such as the, Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA), University of Melbourne Department of Otolaryngology, The HEARing CRC and the Bionics Institute.

Senior Medical Staff

Senior Medical Staff are heavily involved in teaching and supporting our doctors through training and education. For example, the Ophthalmology Senior Medical Staff hold a weekly alumni meeting, which is an excellent forum for HMO and Registrar teaching and an opportunity to meet with colleagues to discuss the latest techniques. Senior Medical Staff are involved in weekly lectures in ENT, Ophthalmology and Emergency Medicine and host undergraduate students from metropolitan clinical schools.

Junior Medical Staff

The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is the only dedicated eye and ear hospital in Victoria. Junior Medical Staff work alongside world renowned leaders in the fields of Ophthalmology and Ear Nose Throat (ENT).
