The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is a world class specialist hospital in eye and ear care providing services across Victoria. As Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, the Eye and Ear has been providing care for the senses for over 160 years. The Eye and Ear has almost 90 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24-hour emergency eye and ear, nose and throat service.
Every year the Eye and Ear cares for nearly 200,000 patients, with over 136,000 outpatients, over 42,000 emergency patients and over 14,000 inpatients. The hospital recently completed a major redevelopment to create a modern internal structure and to improve access for patients, visitors and staff.

About the Role
12-month fellowship available commencing August 2026 (Part time - 0.5 FTE)
The otology fellow will provide high quality services to patients of the Hospital in Otology, Neurotology and Cochlear Implantation, whilst obtaining advanced graduate training in the specialty of Otology. The position also has provision for research activities to be undertaken.
The fellowship affords opportunities in learning the management of difficult otology cases as well as extensive experience in the assessment and management of cochlear implant cases.
The successful applicant will be a Senior Otolaryngology trainee and have some experience in Otology surgery. This position is a combined research and clinical Fellowship in Otology. The clinical work is within the Otology clinics and operating theatres. The research component is related to Professor Stephen O’Leary’s research group in the University of Melbourne facility in the Hospital. The Fellowship offers opportunities in learning the management of difficult otology cases as well as extensive experience in the assessment and management of neurotology and cochlear implant cases.
In addition to outpatient clinics, Fellows will be rostered to shifts in our specialised Emergency Department. This is an excellent opportunity to maintain general ENT skills, at the same time as providing a valuable educational resource to junior medical staff working within the Department.
Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Australian Medical Association (Victoria) Doctors-in-Training Agreement 2022-2026.
