The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is a world class specialist hospital in eye and ear care providing services across Victoria. As Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, the Eye and Ear has been providing care for the senses for over 160 years. The Eye and Ear has almost 90 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24-hour emergency eye and ear, nose and throat service.
Every year the Eye and Ear cares for nearly 200,000 patients, with over 136,000 outpatients, over 42,000 emergency patients and over 14,000 inpatients. The hospital recently completed a major redevelopment to create a modern internal structure and to improve access for patients, visitors and staff.

About the Role
12-month Parttime Fellowship (0.8 FTE) commencing August 2026
The Ocular Immunology Clinic is the largest subspeciality ocular immunology service in Australia. The ten subspecialty trained Ophthalmologists in the unit see between 85 – 100 outpatients per week in two dedicated clinics.
The Fellow attends the Ocular Immunology and Medical Retina clinics each week plus other clinics as rostered. The Fellow will also have substantial exposure to digital angiography, OCT and intravitreal injections. There are two dedicated Ocular Immunology Surgery (cataract) lists per month. In addition to sub-specialty clinics, Fellows may be rostered to shifts in our specialised Emergency Department.
You will be involved in research and ongoing studies from the Macular Research Unit and the Uveitis and Retinal Vascular Research Unit at CERA, with rostered research clinic sessions.
There is an oncall component for Ocular Immunology and Medical Retina Units.
The successful applicant will have completed 4 years of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) training program and the advanced clinical exams (RACE) or equivalent.
Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Australian Medical Association (Victoria) Doctors-in-Training Agreement 2022-2026.
