As Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, the Eye and Ear has been providing care for the senses for over 160 years. The Eye and Ear has almost 90 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24-hour emergency eye and ear, nose and throat service. Every year the Eye and Ear cares for nearly 200,000 patients, with over 136,000 outpatients, over 42,000 emergency patients and over 14,000 inpatients. The hospital recently completed a major redevelopment to create a modern internal structure and to improve access for patients, visitors and staff.

 We are seeking an experienced Allied Health Educator to join our Clinical Education team. You must be a professional from one of the following Allied Health disciplines represented at the Eye and Ear;

  • Orthoptists,
  • Medical Photographers,
  • Audiologists,
  • Pharmacists,
  • Speech Pathologists,
  • Social Workers,
  • Physiotherapists,
  • Allied Health Assistants

About the Role

The Clinical Education team supports the Eye and Ear to achieve its strategic directions by supporting the growth and professional development of allied health professionals and promotes best practice clinical learning environments and implementing statewide frameworks (eg Allied Heath Clinical Supervision Framework).

The Clinical Education team reports to the Manager, Nursing and Allied Education and will work with Allied Health professionals, Department Managers and Operational Directors across the Hospital. The Allied Health Educator works under the direction of the Manager, Nursing and Allied Education and collaborates with Operations Directors responsible for Allied Health to coordinate, deliver and evaluate contemporary, evidence-based inter-professional education and training programs aligned to the strategic and operational needs of the Eye and Ear’s allied health workforce.

To succeed in this role, you will hold a professional qualification in an Allied Health discipline relevant to the Eye and Ear hospital as well as professional registration with the relevant Australian National registration authority.  You will bring advanced knowledge and experience in Clinical Education and contemporary education / training principles and practices. Ideally your experience will have been gained in a public health setting.
