About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Medical Services, this pivotal leadership role partners closely with clinical divisions to design, deliver and sustain improvements that enhance patient safety, experience and outcomes.

You will lead the Clinical Improvement Unit and work across Ophthalmology, ENT and the Emergency Department, with a strong focus on ambulatory and acute services. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on service redesign, supporting the development of new patient pathways and innovative models of care.

Using contemporary improvement methodologies such as PDSA cycles, lean thinking and data-driven decision-making, you will help build organisational capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Clinical Improvement Unit team
  • Set the strategic direction for clinical improvement aligned to hospital priorities
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to identify, prioritise and deliver improvement initiatives
  • Design, implement and evaluate service redesign and new models of care
  • Apply improvement science to deliver sustainable, measurable outcomes
  • Analyse performance, quality and financial data to inform decision-making
  • Engage consumers and multidisciplinary teams in improvement activities
  • Support quality, safety, accreditation and Department of Health initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with internal leaders and external partners

 

About you 

You are an experienced improvement leader who thrives in complex clinical environments and enjoys working collaboratively to drive change.

 

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health-related discipline
  • Proven experience in clinical improvement and service redesign
  • Strong project and change management capability
  • Experience leading or managing teams
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels
  • A solid understanding of hospital operations and health system priorities

 

Postgraduate qualifications and experience with Victorian health system improvement programs are desirable.
