Mandarin & Cantonese Interpreter
About the Role
The Eye and Ear Hospital is a specialist hospital seeking a NAATI-certified Mandarin Interpreter to join our Social Services team. Applicants who are also NAATI-certified in Cantonese are strongly preferred and are highly encouraged to apply.
In this role, you will provide high-quality interpreting services to support patient care, while also assisting with external interpreter bookings and contributing to quality improvement activities as required.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to ethical and professional practice. Experience working in a hospital or broader health setting will be desirable.
This is a part-time position (0.4 FTE), working Monday and Tuesday.
About you
- NAATI Certification in interpreting
- Interpreting at NAATI Certified level
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize workload with competing demands
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate effectively with patients/carers and health professionals
- Ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with staff across all areas of the hospital
- Demonstrated Computer literacy and skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
