The Surgical Admissions and Recovery (SAR) Department at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is seeking a dynamic and motivated Registered Nurse to join our team in a full-time ongoing position.
The successful applicant will be committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care, supporting a positive experience for both patients and carers in the elective surgery setting.
About the Role
- The SAR department operates Monday to Friday, with nurses rostered to 8-hour shifts starting at 7:00am, 9:30am, or 10:30am.
- Nurses rotate across both admission and Stage 2 recovery areas, caring for paediatric and adult patients undergoing ophthalmic and ENT elective procedures.
- Periodic overtime may be required to meet clinical demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver holistic, evidence-based nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to optimise the surgical journey.
- Support and uphold the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, including taking on an allocated National Standard Portfolio to champion within the department.
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Strong clinical and risk assessment capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in clinical IT systems and documentation.
- A collaborative, adaptable, and patient-focused approach
