The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital is a world class specialist hospital in eye and ear care providing services across Victoria. Australia’s only specialist eye, ear, nose and throat hospital, the Eye and Ear has been providing care for the senses for over 160 years. The Eye and Ear has almost 90 different outpatient clinics for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of vision and hearing loss and provides a 24 hour emergency eye and ear, nose, and throat service. The Eye and Ear provides care annually for around 190,000 patients, with over 130,000 outpatients, nearly 44,000 emergency patients and over 14,000 inpatients. The hospital recently completed a major redevelopment to create a modern internal structure and to improve access for patients, visitors and staff.

Position Type: Part-time (1 shift/week – Fridays, fixed until 30/06/2026)
Are you a nursing 2nd Year Nursing Student passionate about providing safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care? The Eye and Ear Hospital is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing (RUSON 2nd Year) to join our dynamic Surgical Admissions and Recovery (SAR) team.
In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience working in a supportive environment alongside experienced nurses as you continue your studies. You'll assist with daily care activities and contribute to maintaining a safe and positive experience for both adult and paediatric patients undergoing ophthalmic and ENT elective procedures.
What You’ll Do:
- Work under the supervision and delegation of Registered Nurses and Nurse Unit Managers.
- Support and contribute to the care of patients in a fast-paced, elective surgery setting.
- Help maintain a safe and comfortable clinical environment.
Position Details:
- Rostered shift: 7.6 hours, every Friday starting at 11:00 AM with some flexibility available
- Department hours: Monday to Friday 7 am to 7.30pm with shifts starting at 7:00 AM, 9:30 AM, or 11:00 AM.
What We’re Looking For:
- Currently enrolled in an entry-to-practice nursing degree.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT and clinical documentation skills.
- A commitment to safety, teamwork, and delivering excellent patient care.
